Placements24 seeks a Head of Compliance and Risk Management for our financial services client in Welkom, Free State. The role leads the compliance and risk framework, guides senior management, and ensures regulatory adherence across the organization.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s in a related field, professional certifications such as CAMS/CRISC, and 8+ years in compliance or risk within financial services. Hybrid work arrangements may be available, with a focus on strategic governance.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a related field such as Law, Finance or Business Administration.
• Professional certifications such as CAMS, CRISC or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in compliance, risk management or internal audit within financial services.
• Strong knowledge of South African regulations (FICA, POPIA, Companies Act).
• Proven track record in developing and implementing effective compliance and risk frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a robust compliance and risk management program.
• Oversee adherence to financial laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
• Lead internal controls, policies, and regulatory examinations.
• Manage audits and act as primary contact for regulators.
• Provide guidance to senior management on compliance and risk matters.
• Lead and develop the compliance and risk team.
• Deliver compliance training and monitor regulatory changes.
