Job summary

Astrana Health Management is seeking a Risk Adjustment Coding Specialist II to support our Northern California market. The role involves extensive chart reviews, coding accuracy audits, and education for providers. Travel to provider offices is required up to 50–75% of the time in the SF Bay Area.

The ideal candidate will have CCS/CCS-P/CPC certification, 3+ years in risk adjustment coding, and strong communication skills to train and collaborate with care teams.

Qualifications

• Requires CCS-P/CCS/CPC certification per CCS/AHIMA guidance.
• At least 3 years of risk adjustment coding and/or billing experience.
• Must be able to travel up to 75% of work time.

Responsibilities

• Review documentation to ensure CMS risk adjustment requirements are met and educate providers.
• Identify coding gaps and trends from medical records and audits.
• Perform code abstraction and coding quality audits to ensure ICD-10-CM accuracy.
• Communicate with physicians on coding, billing and documentation policies.
• Conduct auditing and provide feedback on noncompliance issues.
• Stay updated on ICD-10/HCC changes and payer requirements.
• Coach and mentor new staff; support ongoing coder training.
