Battelle Memorial Institute in the United States is seeking a Software Engineer within the Advanced Microsystems Solutions (AMS) organization to design and develop software for next-generation RF and spectrum operations solutions. You will work with multidisciplinary teams across software, RF, systems engineering, data science, and researchers throughout the full lifecycle from concept to deployment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience developing software for complex technical systems.
• Proficiency in C++, Python, Java, or Rust.
• Experience developing software in Linux environments.
• Understanding of RF communications, DSP, wireless networks, and EMSO concepts.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software for RF and spectrum systems.
• Develop scalable real-time signal processing architectures.
• Create APIs, services, and data pipelines for sensor integration and spectrum workflows.
• Implement software using modern engineering practices, DevSecOps, and Agile methods.
• Develop DSP algorithms for detection, classification, modulation, direction finding, and spectrum analysis.
• Integrate SDR platforms and RF front ends with embedded processing hardware.
• Support lab and field testing to validate system performance.
• Collaborate with customers and teams on system architecture and roadmaps.
