Job summary

State of Washington’s Audit Division is seeking a Lead Auditor (RA3) in Tacoma. You will lead complex audits, oversee engagement scope, and mentor junior staff while ensuring high-quality evidence-based conclusions.

You will coordinate with taxpayers, test electronic accounting systems, and apply GAAP to diverse ledgers. Remote travel may be required as part of ongoing audits and training efforts.

Qualifications

• Leading complex, large-scale audits and serving as auditor in charge with defined scope and milestones.
• Managing a portfolio of audits, coordinating with taxpayer representatives, and meeting deadlines under direction.
• Exercising independent judgment on high-impact matters and escalating policy or risk issues as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead audit projects from planning through reporting, ensuring documentation standards are met.
• Train and mentor auditors; develop training plans and provide ongoing coaching.
• Communicate findings and audit methodologies clearly to taxpayers and stakeholders; draft responses for petitions or reviews.
