Job summary

State of Washington’s Department of Revenue seeks a Revenue Auditor 2 or In-training to conduct complex audits and advise on tax compliance. You will travel to businesses, assess accounting records, and prepare detailed audit reports while collaborating with a diverse team in a hybrid-work environment.

Ideal candidates have progressive auditing experience, strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to educate taxpayers on tax rules.

Qualifications

• Four or more years of professional experience in accounting, auditing, tax compliance, or tax administration.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• 24 semester or 36 quarter hours of accounting coursework.

Responsibilities

• Conduct audits of businesses within designated regions and determine tax compliance.
• Travel to taxpayer locations and observe operations.
• Prepare audit reports and schedules.
• Educate taxpayers on taxability and filing requirements.
• Support team audits and training of junior staff.
