Job summary

Sonar in Austin, TX seeks a Senior Revenue Accountant to ensure accurate revenue recognition under US GAAP and statutory reporting. You will lead monthly/quarterly close, coach junior staff, and help transform the accounting function in a high-growth software company.

You will leverage RevStream, NetSuite, Stripe, and SFDC, while collaborating across finance and operations to drive controls and reliable financial reporting.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in Revenue Accounting, preferably in software.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and audit readiness, with accounting software and Excel.
• Demonstrated ability to work on-site, collaborate across teams, communicate clearly, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance; CPA or similar certification preferred.
• Extensive experience using RevStream, SFDC, NetSuite and Stripe.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules across revenue areas under US GAAP and statutory reporting.
• Experience in SQL reporting, product configuration, revenue recognition rules, and data error resolution.
• Lead process improvement to strengthen reporting quality, efficiency, scalability, and controls.
• Identify opportunities to use automation, technology, and AI-enabled solutions within management reporting.
• Mentor and develop accounting team members and support broader finance goals.
• Assist with ongoing audits and liaise with external auditors.
