Company Information: Equify Financial is a privately-owned, independent specialty finance company based in Fort Worth, Texas. We tailor and personalize our services for each client to build a strong relationship and a strong future for their business. We are an independent, collateral-based lender that can service customers at every financial stage of their business. With over 180 years of combined experience in the equipment finance industry, we can provide an extensive amount of knowledge and an in-depth understanding of our customers’ financial circumstances. We help our clients identify areas of growth and find creative solutions that bring more capital to their businesses.

Position Summary: Equify Financial is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to own revenue recognition and related close activities within its lending and leasing environment. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role prepares and analyzes revenue journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and system-to-general-ledger validations in accordance with U.S. GAAP and Company accounting policies.

The role focuses on revenue accounting and system-to-general-ledger integrity, including ownership of revenue-related close activities, financial statement reporting on revenue, budgeting, and forecasting. The role also analyzes revenue performance in relation to debt costs, including the spread between revenue yield and borrowing costs. Treasury, debt accounting, borrowing base reporting, and accounting policy matters unrelated to revenue remain outside this position’s main scope. We work in a collaborative team environment where team members support one another and pitch in when additional help is needed.

Revenue Recognition & Accounting

  • Prepare and/or review recurring and non-routine revenue journal entries for lease income, interest income, fee income, deferred fees and costs, and other revenue-generating activities.
  • Apply established U.S. GAAP and Company policies to assigned revenue transactions, including relevant ASC 606 and ASC 842 requirements.
  • Analyze contract terms and transaction details to support the timing, measurement, classification, and presentation of revenue.
  • Prepare supporting analyses for loan or lease modifications, deferred revenue items, and other revenue adjustments. Escalate complex or non-standard matters for management review.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and review-ready documentation supporting revenue recognition conclusions and accounting entries.

Month-End Close & Reconciliations

  • Perform assigned monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue close activities within established deadlines.
  • Prepare revenue-related account reconciliations and supporting schedules, including revenue, deferred income, lease receivables, accrued income, and related balances that are audit ready.
  • Investigate reconciling items, aging balances, unusual trends, and period-over-period variances; document findings and coordinate timely corrections.
  • Validate the completeness and accuracy of revenue activity recorded in the general ledger and resolve identified exceptions with appropriate business partners.
  • Provide revenue schedules, explanations, and supporting detail for management reporting and financial statement preparation.

Systems, Data Integrity & Process Support

  • Reconcile revenue activity from lending, leasing, servicing, and operational systems to the general ledger.
  • Test and validate assigned transaction mappings, system configuration changes, and interfaces affecting revenue accounting.
  • Use Excel and available reporting tools to analyze revenue activity, research exceptions, and validate system-to-general-ledger activity.
  • Partner with Accounting, Operations, Servicing, IT, and system support teams to resolve mapping, data, and posting issues.
  • Maintain revenue accounting standard operating procedures, reconciliation instructions, mapping documentation, and other process support materials.
  • Identify opportunities to improve controls, automate recurring work, and strengthen the accuracy and efficiency of revenue processes.

Audit, Controls & Compliance

  • Prepare complete, accurate, and review-ready revenue data, workpapers, and supporting documentation for internal and external audit requests, walkthroughs, testing, and follow-up inquiries under the Controller’s direction.
  • Execute assigned internal controls over revenue calculations, journal entries, reconciliations, system mappings, and financial reporting.
  • Maintain compliance with U.S. GAAP, Company accounting policies, established procedures, and internal control requirements.
  • Communicate issues, open items, and required decisions clearly and promptly to the Controller.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional partners to obtain complete and accurate information supporting revenue recognition and close activities.
  • Assist with cross-training and provide process guidance to team members on assigned revenue procedures.
