Job summary

The City of New York's NYCERS is seeking two Associate Retirement Benefits Examiners, Level 3, to lead the Retirement Calculations and Estimated Benefits units. The roles require strong analytical skills, knowledge of pension calculations, and the ability to supervise and coordinate a team.

Residency is generally required; open to qualified applicants through the NYC Civil Service system. The city offers comprehensive benefits and opportunities to work with pensioners and other agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, accounting, economics, finance, data analytics, project management, business administration, public administration and/or actuarial science.
• Two years of satisfactory full-time experience in analytical, administrative or customer service work within a financial institution, retirement system, or pension.
• One year of satisfactory full-time experience performing mathematical, statistical, actuarial, or accounting computations in a retirement or benefits context.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and motivate a team; establish goals and monitor performance.
• Coordinate unit workload and allocate resources to meet objectives.
• Communicate with internal units, other divisions, and pensioners; draft emails and meeting agendas.
• Maintain daily unit issues and productivity dashboards to ensure timely feedback.
• Oversee training, schedules, leave requests, and employee performance evaluations.
