Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy.
• Current, valid Respiratory Therapist licensure to practice in Oregon, NBRC credential.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Broad knowledge of respiratory care principles, procedures and practice.
• Experience caring for patients with technology dependence in LTC/SNF settings.
• Knowledge of OBRA and Title XXII guidelines for LTC.
• Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Explain purpose and procedure of treatments to residents.
• Operate ventilator machines and oxygen devices per physician orders.
• Perform chest PT, percussion, postural drainage, and suctioning to mobilize secretions.
• Set up, operate and monitor ventilators for patients with compromised ventilation.
• Record treatments and patient responses in medical records.
• Maintain daily ventilator and battery logs and weanings.
• Perform pulse oximetry and oxygen delivery setups.
• Assist with transfers and communicate conditions to relief staff.
• Follow HIPAA and safety procedures and maintain equipment.
