Job summary

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is seeking a Senior Respiratory Therapist to deliver advanced respiratory care and serve as a senior clinical resource across inpatient units, critical care areas, and outpatient clinics.

The role involves assessing complex respiratory conditions, managing ventilatory support, airway management and emergency interventions, and partnering with leadership on operations and quality initiatives.

Qualifications

• Licensed Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in New York State.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced respiratory care and act as a senior clinical resource across inpatient units, ICUs, emergency response, and outpatient clinics.
• Assess and manage patients with complex respiratory conditions requiring ventilatory support, airway management, and specialized therapies.
• Support daily clinical operations, staff development, workflow coordination, and quality improvement while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Education

Bachelor's degree (CoARC accredited) + 1 year experience or Associate's degree + 3 years experience

The Senior Respiratory Therapist provides advanced respiratory care and serves as a senior clinical resource across inpatient units, critical care areas, emergency response, and outpatient clinics. Assesses and manages patients with complex respiratory conditions requiring specialized expertise in ventilatory support, airway management, respiratory treatments, and emergency interventions. Partners with leadership to support daily clinical operations, staff development, workflow coordination, quality improvement activities, and adherence to clinical, safety, and regulatory standards.

Compensation

Base hourly rate: $33.41

Geographical Differential: $6.93

Total Hourly Rate: $40.34

Qualifications

License and Certification Requirements

1. 1. License to practice as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in the State of New York; and
2. 2. Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); and
3. 3. Current certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).

Education and Experience

1. 1. Bachelor's degree from a Respiratory Therapy program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time experience in respiratory therapy or a related healthcare field; or
2. 2. Associate's degree from a Respiratory Therapy program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time experience in respiratory therapy or a related healthcare field.
