Job summary

Venture Home Group in Stamford, CT is seeking an experienced Residential Solar Engineering Design Manager to lead the technical quality and workflow of our residential solar plan set operation. This hands-on leadership role requires expert AutoCAD skills and the ability to review complex projects, set drafting standards, and drive automation of the plan set process.

Qualifications

• Expert-level AutoCAD proficiency.
• Experience creating residential solar permit plan sets.
• Experience reviewing and quality-checking residential solar plan sets.
• Strong understanding of residential solar PV design, construction, and permitting.
• Ability to train and mentor designers and others on the team.
• Willingness to regularly commute to Stamford, CT.

Responsibilities

• Oversee creation, review, revision, and final delivery of residential solar permit plan sets.
• Perform detailed quality-control reviews and ensure plans meet AHJ, utility, and permitting requirements.
• Personally review and troubleshoot complex residential solar projects when needed.
• Serve as AutoCAD SME, including creating, modifying, and improving drawings.
• Develop and maintain AutoCAD templates, blocks, details, notes, and standards.
• Identify opportunities to automate repetitive AutoCAD tasks and improve efficiency.
• Review electrical drawings and system layouts for code compliance.
• Coordinate engineering requirements and third-party plan set providers.
• Track recurring errors and drive improvements to standards and process SOPs.
