Job summary

Renewyx in Santa Fe Springs, CA is seeking a CAD Manager to lead a team of CAD designers on commercial/industrial solar and utility-scale projects. This hands-on leadership role blends design oversight with project coordination.

You will set standards, mentor staff, and ensure timely delivery from concept through permit-ready drawings, working closely with engineering and field teams in a hybrid or on-site setting.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a design/drafting team.
• Experience designing electrical drawings for solar or renewable energy projects.
• Experience with NEC and permitting for electrical construction drawings.
• Comfortable with a team that is currently fully in-office; some travel may be required.
• Strong AutoCAD skills including AutoCAD Electrical or Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

• Manage and mentor a team of CAD designers, setting priorities and reviewing output for quality and consistency.
• Oversee CAD production for C&I solar projects from concept through permit-ready drawing sets
• Oversee preliminary CAD design for utility-scale solar projects
• Set and enforce drawing standards, templates, and QA/QC processes across the team
• Coordinate with engineering, project management, and field teams to keep designs on schedule
• Review redlines and manage revision cycles across active projects
• Support staffing and workload planning as project volume shifts between C&I and utility work
