Job summary

Weston & Sampson is seeking a Senior Resident Project Representative or Senior Construction Inspector to oversee horizontal and vertical utility projects in the South Shore and Cape Cod areas of Massachusetts. The role offers professional development within a team of engineers.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of experience with water/sewer and related construction, strong communication skills, and the ability to coordinate with municipalities, residents, and contractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or construction-related field preferred.
• 10+ years of experience with horizontal water/sewer/drain, and sewer pump stations and related mechanical work and vertical construction (water/sewer treatment plants preferred)
• Experience with general construction inspection policies, procedures and administrative requirements
• Working knowledge and experience with interpreting contract documents, including compliance with prevailing safety regulations
• Excellent public relations, written and verbal communication skills and organizational/time management skills
• Ability to prepare and maintain electronic field records efficiently and accurately
• Ability to work well with contractors, engineers, municipality, and residents
• Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Review of contract documents and construction management requirements to identify and report degree of Contractor's compliance.
• Confirm compliance of shop drawings and other construction modifications; measure the quantities and observe quality of construction; prepare daily records of construction work; record and report problems and failures to comply with contract documents and construction management requirements.
• Review and evaluate Contractor’s work schedules and updates with the Project Manager.
• The projects will require careful coordination with abutters and the client, contract administration and reporting, and coordination with engineers working in support.
• With municipality involvement, negotiate claims for extra work/change orders.
• Maintain, liaison and attend regular site meetings to anticipate construction work, potential problems, progress, and other job-related conditions.
• Review and recommend Contractor’s monthly payment estimates; supervise subordinate consultant staff and survey crew as appropriate.
• Maintain positive relationships with municipal staff and contractors.
• Some overtime may be required.

Salary Range: $122,000.00 - $150,000.00 based on experience
