Weston & Sampson Engineers Inc in Massachusetts is seeking a Senior Resident Project Representative or Senior Construction Inspector to oversee horizontal and vertical utility and infrastructure projects across the South Shore and Cape Cod. You will review contract documents, monitor contractor performance, coordinate with abutters and municipal staff, and prepare field records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction related field is preferred.
• Strong communication and public relations skills are essential.
• Ability to interpret contract documents and construction management requirements.

• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Review contract documents and CM requirements to report compliance.
• Verify shop drawings, quantity measurement, quality observation, and daily field records.
• Review and update contractor work schedules with the Project Manager.
• Coordinate with abutters, client, and engineers; manage contract administration and reporting.
• Negotiate claims for extra work/change orders with municipalities.
• Attend site meetings and maintain relationships with municipal staff and contractors.
• Review monthly payment estimates and supervise junior staff.
• Oversee project coordination to anticipate problems and ongoing work.
• Overtime may be required.

Job description

Weston & Sampson is seeking a Senior Resident Project Representative or Senior Construction Inspector for oversight and inspection of horizontal and vertical utility and infrastructure projects in the South Shore and Cape Cod areas of Massachusetts. The job is a great opportunity for professional development as part of a team of professional engineers.

What you'll do:

• Review of contract documents and construction management requirements to identify and report degree of Contractor's compliance.
• Confirm compliance of shop drawings and other construction modifications; measure the quantities and observe quality of construction; prepare daily records of construction work; record and report problems and failures to comply with contract documents and construction management requirements.
• Review and evaluate Contractor's work schedules and updates with the Project Manager.
• The projects will require careful coordination with abutters and the client, contract administration and reporting, and coordination with engineers working in support.
• With municipality involvement, negotiate claims for extra work/change orders.
• Maintain, liaison and attend regular site meetings to anticipate construction work, potential problems, progress, and other job-related conditions.
• Review and recommend Contractor's monthly payment estimates; supervise subordinate consultant staff and survey crew as appropriate.
• Maintain positive relationships with municipal staff and contractors.
• Some overtime may be required.

What you will bring:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction related field preferred
• 10+ years of experience with horizontal water/sewer/drain, and sewer pump stations and related mechanical work and vertical construction (water/sewer treatment plants preferred)
• Survey and design engineering experience is a plus
• AutoCAD experience a plus
• Experience with general construction inspection policies, procedures and administrative requirements
• Working knowledge and experience with interpreting contract documents, including compliance with prevailing safety regulations
• Excellent public relations, written and verbal communication skills and organizational/time management skills
• Ability to prepare and maintain electronic field records efficiently and accurately
• Ability to work well with contractors, engineers, municipality, and residents
• Valid driver's license

Salary Range: $122,000.00 - $150,000.00 based on experience #LI-Hybrid
