Job summary

Weston & Sampson is seeking a Senior Resident Project Representative or Senior Construction Inspector to oversee horizontal and vertical utility and infrastructure projects across the South Shore and Cape Cod regions of Massachusetts.

The role involves reviewing contract documents, verifying shop drawings, coordinating with abutters and clients, and negotiating change orders. A Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of relevant experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction related field is preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in horizontal water/sewer/drain, and sewer pump stations and related mechanical work and vertical construction (water/sewer treatment plants preferred).
• Experience interpreting contract documents and ensuring compliance with contract requirements.
• Excellent public relations, written and verbal communication skills and organizational/time management.
• Experience with general construction inspection policies, procedures and administrative requirements.
• Valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Review contract documents and construction management requirements to identify and report contractor compliance.
• Verify shop drawings and construction modifications; measure quantities and observe quality; maintain daily records and report noncompliance.
• Review and evaluate contractor work schedules with the Project Manager.
• Coordinate with abutters, client, and engineers; manage contract administration and reporting.
• Negotiate claims for extra work and change orders with municipalities.
• Attend regular site meetings; monitor progress and anticipate issues.
• Review and recommend contractor payment estimates; supervise staff and survey crew as needed.
• Maintain positive relationships with municipal staff and contractors.
• Some overtime may be required.

Weston & Sampson is seeking a Senior Resident Project Representative or Senior Construction Inspector for oversight and inspection of horizontal and vertical utility and infrastructure projects in the South Shore and Cape Cod areas of Massachusetts. What You’ll Do

• Review of contract documents and construction management requirements to identify and report degree of Contractor's compliance.
• Confirm compliance of shop drawings and other construction modifications; measure the quantities and observe quality of construction; prepare daily records of construction work; record and report problems and failures to comply with contract documents and construction management requirements.
• Review and evaluate Contractor’s work schedules and updates with the Project Manager.
• The projects will require careful coordination with abutters and the client, contract administration and reporting, and coordination with engineers working in support.
• With municipality involvement, negotiate claims for extra work/change orders.
• Maintain, liaison and attend regular site meetings to anticipate construction work, potential problems, progress, and other job-related conditions.
• Review and recommend Contractor’s monthly payment estimates; supervise subordinate consultant staff and survey crew as appropriate.
• Maintain positive relationships with municipal staff and contractors.
• Some overtime may be required.

What You Will Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction related field preferred
• 10+ years of experience with horizontal water/sewer/drain, and sewer pump stations and related mechanical work and vertical construction (water/sewer treatment plants preferred)
• Survey and design engineering experience is a plus
• AutoCAD experience a plus
• Experience with general construction inspection policies, procedures and administrative requirements
• Working knowledge and experience with interpreting contract documents, including compliance with prevailing safety regulations
• Excellent public relations, written and verbal communication skills and organizational/time management skills
• Ability to prepare and maintain electronic field records efficiently and accurately
• Ability to work well with contractors, engineers, municipality, and residents
• Valid driver’s license

Salary Range: $122,000.00 - $150,000.00 based on experience
