Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. is seeking a Lead Resident Engineer to supervise a multi-year water transmission program in the Chicagoland area.

You will manage a portfolio of construction contracts, monitor cost, schedule and quality, and ensure work complies with contract documents and applicable codes. You will lead RE teams, coordinate with design staff, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance while delivering value to clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois preferred.
• 10+ years of experience on multi-discipline construction projects preferred.
• Experience managing construction work, schedule, cost and QA/QA during large programs.
• Knowledge of local building codes and infrastructure standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Resident Engineers and assigned personnel; cover for REs as needed.
• Ensure work conforms to contract documents, specs and applicable codes.
• Oversee day-to-day construction management including payments, change orders, reports.
• Ensure safety protocols are followed and monitor contractor performance.
• Review contractor payments, adjust as needed based on progress.
• Evaluate extra work items and prepare cost Justifications.
• Monitor contractor performance, schedule compliance and responsiveness.
• Coordinate with CM staff, operations, and other stakeholders; resolve issues.
