Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Resident Engineer to join our roadways team in Chicago, IL. The role focuses on field construction oversight, coordinating with contractors, and ensuring compliance with design and regulatory standards.

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field, at least 7 years of related experience, and an Illinois PE license. IDOT documentation and materials certification are preferred. Competitive benefits available.

Qualifications

• Has well-developed understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of construction.
• Illinois PE license required; IDOT documentation & materials certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs day-to-day field construction oversight to ensure work aligns with design, budget and schedule.
• Coordinates with construction contractors and on-site participants to resolve project issues without directing methods.
• Implements industry, client and regulatory standards and conducts QA/QC, including peer reviews.
• Prepares portions of construction management service proposals and participates in client communications.
• Supports phase reviews, constructability, sequencing and risk assessment throughout project lifecycle.
• Acts as primary field contact with client, regulatory agencies and other stakeholders during the Construction Phase.
