Senior Resident Engineer (MEP) – Atlanta, GA

Jacobs is looking for a Senior Resident Engineer (MEP) to join our team in the Atlanta, GA office. In this role you will manage large‑scale complex construction contracts and coordinate efforts of contractors during construction, closeout, and occupancy.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the efforts of contractors during construction, closeout, and occupancy.
  • Evaluate the progress and quality of construction activities in conformance with approved schedules and budgets.
  • Review and approve progress payments.
  • Monitor and supervise field coordination and inspection.
  • Review bid package documents for constructability and coordination among design disciplines; recommend changes as required.
  • Review all construction documents against design development documents for scope, schedule, and budget conformance.
  • Review General Conditions to suit each bid package and oversee performance.
  • Assist the client and Project Manager at pre‑bid and pre‑construction meetings.
  • Expedite resolution of construction problems.
  • Monitor and manage all field directives.
  • Obtain daily reports from contractors and prepare Resident Engineer’s weekly report.
  • Oversee Quality Assurance Program for each assigned contract in concert with the Quality Assurance Manager; monitor design consultant inspections.
  • Establish and conduct weekly construction meetings.
  • Manage schedule updates, provide and approve any logic changes.
  • Administer construction contracts for assigned contracts.
  • Review, approve, and certify contractor requests for payment.
  • Ensure insurance, bonding, and contract requirements are properly executed and maintained.
  • Coordinate separate contractors’ lay‑down areas, office locations, and equipment placements.
  • Coordinate construction interface with local utilities through the Utility/Agency Coordinator.
  • Oversee negotiation, preparation, and review of all change orders.
  • Oversee project closeout and client occupancy.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in administration of construction contracts and inspection of construction work in the field, including a substantial role as Resident Engineer.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably mechanical or electrical.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of multiple project delivery methods (Design‑Bid‑Build, Design‑Build, CMR contracts) and their execution.
  • Knowledge of and experience with contractor safety plans, QC plans, document control plans, and project procedures manuals.
  • Previous experience directing, coordinating, and supervising a CM field staff, including multiple Resident Engineers, Assistant Resident Engineers, Project/Office Engineers, document control clerks, and field inspectors.
  • Proficiency with scheduling, spreadsheet, and document/database software (e.g., PMWeb, P6, Microsoft Office).

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is $145,000.00 to $156,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Location & Work Requirements

Onsite employees are expected to attend a Jacobs workplace on a full‑time basis, as required by the nature of the role.
