Job summary

Jacobs in New York, NY is seeking a driven Project Engineer to coordinate the progression of trades and design-field staff on active projects. Based on site with our client, you’ll support the Senior Project Manager with RFI tracking, contract document review, forecast and cost scheduling, and change-order reviews to keep payments and progress on track.

You will help ensure QA/QC, safety, and compliance with client standards while preparing regular reports and reviewing project payments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline, Construction Management or Architecture
  • 5+ years on larger projects valued above $10 million
  • Experience with RFI tracking, contract document review, forecast and cost scheduling, change‑order review and payments review
  • Knowledge of pre‑design and pre‑construction delivery systems and components
  • Experience inspecting large-scale building construction projects
  • Knowledge of Uniform Building Code
  • Proficient with MS Windows/Office and scheduling applications
  • OSHA 30 certification

We are looking for a driven and collaborative client‑focused Project Engineer to grow with our team in the New York, NY field office. You’ll provide effective, skilled project management to help reduce the costs of delivering projects and add value to the business by applying proven project‑management techniques.

Role Overview

As a Project Engineer, you’ll coordinate the progression of trades and design‑field staff on active projects. Based on site with our client, you’ll support the Senior Project Manager with RFI tracking, contract document review, forecast and cost scheduling, preparation of change‑order reviews, and review of payments. Services also include assisting D&C or consulting with the PM or EIC on payment application review, writing meeting minutes of project meetings, preparing regular reports, conducting field inspections as required, and performing other duties related to construction site activities. You’ll be tasked with ensuring the project moves ahead to completion according to client standards. Through this role you will work on multiple fast‑moving projects and larger, long‑scheduled projects. Your presence will monitor contractors and subcontractors performing craftwork to ensure QA/QC compliance and project quality, safety, and security requirements are achieved.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline, Construction Management or Architecture
  • Related education, in the form of college credit or degree, or professional certification may be accepted as partial fulfillment of experience years at the director’s discretion
  • Project Engineer (P/C) shall possess, at a minimum, 5 years of experience on larger projects valued above $10 million
  • In-depth knowledge of RFI tracking, contract document review, forecast and cost scheduling, preparation of change‑order review and the review of payments.
  • Knowledge of pre‑design and pre‑construction, delivery systems, and components
  • Experience or comparable training in inspecting large‑scale building construction projects
  • Knowledgeable and experienced with Uniform Building Code
  • Proficient in basic computer skills utilizing Microsoft Windows and Office applications and scheduling applications
  • Possess an OSHA 30 certification

The base salary range for this position is $75,000.00 to $90,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
