Job summary

Kleinfelder is seeking experienced Resident Engineers for Southern California projects, offering a hybrid work schedule. You will lead transportation and public works construction, manage field teams, and coordinate with agencies and contractors to ensure project success.

Ideal candidates hold a Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree, with 12+ years of experience; a CA PE is preferred. Excellent communication and MS Office proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• California Professional Engineer's license preferred.
• Minimum of 12 years of related experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
• Proactive and personable with a strong ability to learn quickly.
• Capable of working effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage and administer the construction of transportation and/or public works projects.
• Provide daily management of Assistant Resident Engineers, inspection staff, and QA personnel.
• Assign field personnel to project tasks and oversee their effectiveness.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required.
• Lead weekly progress meetings with contractors, owners, agencies, and stakeholders.
• Monitor and track contractor progress.
• Coordinate utility relocations with appropriate agencies.
• Serve as the primary field contact between contractors and the client's Construction Manager.
• Provide input for redesigns to accommodate field conditions.
• Perform analytical calculations including earthwork, grading, profiles, and staking procedures.
• Maintain accurate project records.
• Review and approve quantity calculations for progress payments.
