Job summary

The University of Alabama in Huntsville is seeking a Research Technician to support the maintenance, preparation, and operation of launcher systems for ballistic testing and research at the USASMDC-TC Aerophysics Research Facility on Redstone Arsenal, AL. This role requires collaboration with engineers and scientists and strict adherence to safety and documentation standards.

The position involves fabrication and modification of hardware, installation of fixtures, and post-test activities

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree, minimum of two years of college coursework, or an equivalent combination.
• Minimum of 6-8 years of full-time, verifiable work experience.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Stand for extended periods and lift up to 35 pounds.
• Ability to work a 8:00 AM–5:00 PM schedule, Monday through Friday.
• U.S. Citizenship and eligibility for Final Secret Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Support the assembly, setup, operation, and maintenance of launcher systems.
• Perform fabrication, modification, and assembly of mechanical components.
• Document project activities and maintain functional checklists.
• Safely operate material handling equipment (MHE).
• Assist in operation and maintenance of hydraulic and pressurized gas systems.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational regulations.
• Coordinate with engineers and scientists to support research and facility operations.
