Position Responsibilities
  1. Ensure the successful completion of multiple research projects, including performing surgical procedures (e.g., intravenous catheter implantation, intra-cranial infusions, cannula implant), data collection (behavioral, in vivo photometry, electrophysiology), and data analysis.
  2. Coordinate weekly schedules of undergraduate researchers, ensuring responsibilities such as mouse colony maintenance, equipment stocking, and lab cleanliness are completed.
  3. Assist in training undergraduates, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows, maintaining high-quality standards within the lab.
  4. Develop and incorporate novel techniques and technology to enhance research capabilities.
  5. Work with supervisors and Dr. Hearing to coordinate ongoing projects, including animal cohort management and experimental design.
  6. Manage research supplies procurement and vendor communication in collaboration with supervisors.
Additional Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in bioscience or related field
  • Minimum of three years related experience
  • Experience with rodent behavioral assays, in vivo chemo-/optogenetics, and surgical procedures
  • Proven ability to train and oversee technical staff
  • Knowledge of neuroscience related to addiction and stress
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with various endpoints
  • Ability to understand and follow SOPs and regulatory requirements
  • Strong record-keeping skills, attention to detail, professional attitude, and work ethic

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of laboratory safety, controlled substances, biosafety, and animal use regulations
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, SPSS, GraphPad, and Prism
