Job summary

The Midavaine Laboratory at the University of Minnesota seeks an experienced Research Professional 4 (Senior Research Scientist / Lab Manager) to lead in vivo mouse studies, manage operations, and train staff as the neuroimmunology program expands.

This senior role requires independent execution of experiments, development of animal protocols, colony management, and collaboration on manuscripts and grants, with potential start date January 2027.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology or related field plus at least five years of relevant research experience.
• Five+ years hands-on experience with mouse models, including survival surgery and in vivo treatment studies.
• Experience writing or maintaining IACUC protocols and breeding colonies.
• Proficiency in molecular and histological methods and cell culture.
• Experience training laboratory personnel.
• Strong organization and communication skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Plan and perform in vivo mouse studies including surgeries and treatments.
• Conduct molecular, cellular, histological analyses and tissue processing.
• Develop protocols and establish new techniques with PI and core facilities.
• Prepare figures and methods text for manuscripts and grants.
• Train technicians and students; supervise lab operations.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and maintain lab records.
