Job summary

University of Minnesota’s Family Medicine and Community Health invites applications for a Research Professional 5 in a senior scientific role. The position leads neural control and neuroplasticity research using rodent models, coordinating experiments, supervising staff, and mentoring students and postdocs.

The successful candidate will design complex protocols, analyze data, contribute to manuscripts, and help advance translational goals across NIH-funded projects.

Qualifications

• PhD in neuroscience or physiology with 1+ years of research training.
• Experience with in vivo rodent models of respiratory neural control.
• First author and middle author publications in peer-reviewed journals on respiratory physiology or neuroplasticity.

Responsibilities

• Design and conduct experiments in respiratory neural function and spinal cord injury using rodent models.
• Provide direction and supervision to others in the lab, instructing on techniques and procedures.
• Perform literature research and synthesize findings to advance current studies.
• Analyze and interpret data from experiments and report outcomes to the PI.
• Contribute to manuscripts related to the research studies.
