Job Description - Senior Research Scientist (2500821)

Senior Research Scientist

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Data Scientist to join our research team in the Department of Neurology. This role focuses on advancing our understanding of aging and neurodegenerative diseases through data-driven analyses. The successful candidate will analyze complex biomedical datasets, apply machine learning techniques, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to uncover patterns, trends, and relationships in aging data.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering, Computational Biology, Neuroscience, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in data analysis and machine learning, with proficiency in Python, R, or similar languages.
  • Experience working with large biomedical datasets (genomics, clinical records, neuroimaging, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of statistical analysis and experimental design.
  • Interest or experience in aging research, neurodegenerative diseases, or neuroscience.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, D3.js, matplotlib, ggplot2.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with multi-omics data analysis.
  • Familiarity with neuroimaging data analysis tools (FSL, SPM, FreeSurfer).
  • Knowledge of aging biomarkers and methodologies.
  • Experience with high-performance and cloud computing (AWS, Google Cloud).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with researchers, clinicians, and experts to design and implement data analysis strategies.
  • Analyze large-scale data to identify trends, biomarkers, and insights related to aging and neurological health.
  • Apply advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to multi-modal data.
  • Develop algorithms for data processing, cleaning, and transformation.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis, hypothesis testing, and develop data-driven recommendations.
  • Create reproducible workflows using MATLAB, Python, and R.
  • Integrate genetic and genomic data with clinical and imaging data to enhance disease modeling.
  • Present findings at meetings, contribute to publications, conferences, and grant applications.
  • Stay current with advancements in aging research, neuroscience, data science, and machine learning.
