Job summary

UC San Diego in San Diego, CA seeks a Research Lab Supervisor to manage complex lab operations, lead experimental design, and coordinate multi-group collaborations. The role supports microbiological studies and manuscript preparation under the PI and supports core facilities.

Responsibilities include budget development, meeting materials, vendor coordination, and supervising the EXCITE Laboratory to maintain CLIA/CAP standards. This is a high-responsibility research leadership position.

Qualifications

• Seven years of related experience, education/training.
• Advanced knowledge of specialized laboratory equipment.
• Experience with purchasing, service contracts, repairs, and record keeping.
• Leadership for planning work, priorities and scheduling.
• Strong interpersonal skills with students, faculty and staff.
• Ability to supervise staff and manage lab operations.
• Knowledge of lab safety procedures and CLIA/CAP regulations.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex laboratory operations and collaborations with other groups.
• Develop plans for research design and contribute to methods.
• Lead program management of large collaborative studies.
• Prepare meetings, materials, and reports.
• Oversee Perinatal Recharge Core and supervise Core tasks.
• Supervise UCSD EXCITE Laboratory and ensure QA.
