Job summary

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago seeks a Research Financial Portfolio Manager to advise on budgets and spending for PI-sponsored projects. You will partner with Research Support, Sponsored Programs, and PIs to ensure compliant financial management.

Led by the Associate Director, you will oversee post-award policies, cost transfers, and reporting while coordinating with the Finance Office to optimize funding strategy across departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field; required.
• Master’s degree and/or CRA/CFRA preferred.
• Minimum five years in grant/research administration with accounting familiarity.
• Minimum three years post-award services for federally funded grants/contracts.
• Extensive knowledge of Uniform Guidance and NIH policy statements.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive financial advice and planning for each PI’s sponsored projects.
• Synchronize funding sources into an integrated strategy for PI portfolios.
• Communicate financial data to PIs, sponsors, and administration; maintain portfolio reports.
• Implement post-award policies to ensure sponsor compliance and GAAP adherence.
• Present options to PIs and admins while ensuring sponsor guideline compliance.
• Identify cost transfers or award prior approvals and initiate requests as needed.
• Review transactions and resolve complex financial issues such as cost sharing and effort reporting.
• Provide budgeting information to divisional leadership.
• Coordinate continuation award tasks with Research Accountants and Sponsored Programs office.
• Serve as liaison between PIs and central research administration and finance units.
