Job summary

RTI International in Research Triangle Park, NC, or as a domestic teleworker, invites applications for an Investigator/Trialist - Research Epidemiologist to lead multi-site clinical studies with design, analysis, and governance responsibilities.

The role requires a doctorate in epidemiology, 8+ years in multi-center trials, NIH and FDA-regulated work, and strong leadership and communication skills; AI/ML experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• A doctorate in epidemiology or related field and at least 8 years’ experience in multi-center clinical research.
• Led or co-led at least two public health research projects, including multi-site centers and/or prospective data collection.
• Experience obtaining NIH funding and leading federally funded projects is strongly preferred.
• 4+ years experience working on FDA-regulated trials, including new drug and device studies, is required.
• Demonstrable track record of leadership in developing and sustaining a climate that fosters growth in research funding, staff capabilities, and scientific excellence and reputation.
• Focus in 1-2 research areas of chronic or acquired health conditions, as evidenced by leadership experience and a corresponding record of scientific stature is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead project leadership for coordinating centers of multi-site research projects, including randomized trials.
• Oversee study design, protocol development, implementation, site oversight, data collection, quality control, data analysis, and presentation of study results.
• May serve as a leader or member of research network committees, and as a liaison with funding agencies.
• Guide multi-disciplinary teams in data management and subawards where applicable.
• Maintain effective communication with funding officials, site leadership, collaborators, and core facilities.
• Oversee contractual and fiscal aspects of coordinating centers or trials to ensure deliverables.
• Lead development of grants, proposals, and study analyses; present findings at conferences.
