Job summary

Binergy Scientific is seeking a highly motivated R&D professional to advance electrochemical energy storage, materials development, and sensor technologies for defense applications. The role emphasizes battery systems, materials testing, and mechanical design in an onsite Atlanta-based team.

You will contribute to concept-to-prototype work, perform characterization using SEM/XRD/XPS/TGA/DSC, and mentor students and interns while collaborating with cross-functional experts.

Qualifications

• Master or PhD in material science, electrochemistry, chemistry, aerospace or mechanical engineering.
• Experience with battery or energy storage R&D.
• Experience with mechanical design.
• Development of lab test assemblies, automation, data acquisition and processing systems.
• Experience in chemical or material science laboratories with testing/characterization methods.
• CAD drafting with SolidWorks.
• US citizenship required for DoD-funded work.
• Project management experience and mentoring of students/interns.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Electrochemical and other materials development, characterization, and testing.
• Develop and test advanced energy storage systems/electrochemical batteries.
• Mechanical design, characterization, and testing.
• Implement test methods, investigate improvements, validate designs and performance.
• Generate innovative ideas and prepare compelling grant proposals.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations.
• Contribute to commercialization efforts.
• Grow and lead a dedicated R&D area.
