Job summary

Freenome Inc. is seeking a Senior Research Associate to advance genomic assay technologies within the Genomic Early Development team. You will work with Scientists, Automation Engineers and Computational Biologists to develop high-throughput workflows for early cancer detection in a regulated lab.

You will help transfer research prototypes to Development and collaborate with Quality/Regulatory to ensure data integrity, cGLP,cGDP and compliant documentation across all stages.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related field (or Master’s with relevant experience).
• Hands-on NGS-based assay development including extraction, library prep, capture, sequencing.
• Familiarity with molecular biology workflows: DNA/RNA extraction, purification, quantification, library prep.

Responsibilities

• Apply molecular biology and NGS knowledge to develop and optimize NGS-based methods following Design Controls for IVD development.
• Design and perform experiments to develop, optimize, and characterize NGS workflows (DNA/RNA extraction, library prep, target capture, sequencing).
• Operate and maintain NGS instruments and automation equipment (liquid handlers, PCR instruments, sequencers).
• Conduct reagents testing and QC method development.
• Troubleshoot and implement process improvements across the analytical workflow.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transfer research to development and to Operations.
