Job summary

Freenome is seeking a Senior Research Associate to advance genomic assay technologies within the Genomic Early Development team. The role collaborates with Scientists, Automation Engineers, and Computational Biologists to create automated workflows, improving throughput in a regulated lab setting at our Brisbane, CA headquarters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years life sciences experience or Master’s in related field.
• Hands-on NGS assay development experience.
• Experience with molecular biology workflows and sample prep.
• Ability to design, plan, and execute experiments with data review.
• Strong attention to detail and troubleshooting skills.
• Clear communication and collaboration skills.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize NGS workflows including DNA/RNA extraction, library prep, target capture, and sequencing.
• Operate and maintain NGS instruments.
• Test new reagents and develop QC methods.
• Troubleshoot issues and improve analytical workflows.
• Collaborate to transfer assays from Research to Development.
• Transfer QC methods and manufacturing processes to Operations.
• Record results in electronic lab notebooks and author study protocols.
• Apply cGLP and cGDP practices.
