Job summary

Signify Bio seeks a hands-on Senior Research Associate for the Analytical Development team within CMC. The role focuses on routine and advanced analytical testing to support characterization, release, stability evaluations for mRNA payloads and LNP delivery systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field with 5–7 years of lab experience, or MS with 2–5 years.
  • Experience with chromatographic methods (HPLC/UPLC) and detectors (CAD/ELSD/UV); practical LNP/RNA characterization experience.

Responsibilities

  • Execute routine and advanced analytical testing for mRNA drug substance and LNP formulations.
  • Prepare reagents and standards; set up and maintain HPLC/UPLC systems and detection equipment.
  • Document procedures, data, and observations in ELN following SOPs.
  • Collaborate with Formulation Process Development and Molecular Biology teams to support screening and process optimization.
  • Assist in method drafting, protocol execution, and sample tracking for stability studies.
  • Present findings at team meetings and contribute to technical discussions.

Position Summary

We seek a hands-on, detail-oriented Senior Research Associate to join our Analytical Development team within the CMC organization. In this newly-created role, the Senior RA will perform routine and advanced analytical testing to support characterization, release, and stability evaluations for Signify's mRNA payloads (SEND platform) and LNP delivery systems (iPHOS platform). This role also focuses on executing biophysical and chromatographic assays, maintaining laboratory instrumentation, and documenting data to accelerate our internal and partnered therapeutic programs.

  • Execute routine and non-routine analytical assays for mRNA drug substance and LNP formulation characterization, including HPLC/UPLC (RP, SEC, IEX with CAD/UV), capillary electrophoresis, dynamic light scattering (DLS), particle sizing, and dye-binding (RiboGreen/encapsulation) assays.
  • Prepare reagents, analytical standards, and mobile phases; perform instrument setup, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting for HPLC/UPLC systems and biophysical detection equipment.
  • Document experimental procedures, raw data, and scientific observations meticulously in Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN) following established SOPs.
  • Collaborate closely with Formulation Process Development and Molecular Biology teams to analyze samples in a timely manner to support screening and process optimization.
  • Assist in method drafting, protocol execution, assay qualification, and sample tracking for stability studies.
  • Present experimental findings clearly at internal team meetings and contribute to technical discussions.
Qualifications - Education

B.S. in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline with 5-7 years of relevant industry or academic laboratory experience; or M.S. with 2-5 years of related experience.

Qualifications - Work Experience & Skills
  • Hands-on experience with chromatographic methods (HPLC/UPLC) for small molecules, lipids, or nucleic acids; experience with CAD, ELSD, or UV detectors is preferred.
  • Practical experience in LNP or RNA characterization tools (e.g., DLS/Zetasizer, RiboGreen encapsulation, capillary gel electrophoresis) is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail in data collection and record-keeping.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and execute multi-step analytical protocols reliably.
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities regarding standard analytical instrumentation and experimental workflows.
  • Clear written and oral communication skills.
Physical Requirements

Position requires the physical ability to work in a lab setting and utilize standard lab equipment for extended periods of time. Occasional travel (<10%>) may be required, typically domestic.
