The Senior Research Assistant will support all operations of theRNA Core Facility including, maintaining cell lines, performingtransfections, PCR, western blotting, and DNA/RNA/proteinextraction & purification. The Senior Research Assistant willbe responsible for the preparation of samples, libraryconstruction, and the running of instrumentation for sequencing andother genomic workflows under the direction of the RNA CoreFacility Manager. In addition, the Senior Research Assistant willbe responsible for the ordering and preparation of necessarylaboratory reagents and supplies to support Core operations. Theposition will require careful collection, recording, andinterpretation of experimental data and preparation of collecteddata for presentation to outside research groups. The position willrequire the ability to keep detailed records of activities, andwill be required to write protocols and operating procedures.
The COBRE: Center for RNA Biology in Health and Disease primarygoal is to create a transformative organizing hub for RNA researchin Rhode Island. The RNA Core Facility works to support RNA biologyresearch at Brown University and the wider Rhode Island communityby providing specialized expertise and training. The RNA CoreFacility is developing analytical capabilities in long-readsequencing, RNA immunoprecipitation, massively parallel reporterassays (MRPAs), and RNA structural analysis. We work with earlycareer RNA researchers to help them establish independentNIH-funding investigators, more established researchers who areseeking to initiate RNA-focus projects and act to fosterinterdisciplinary collaboration between core services and RNAbiology research labs.
This is a fixed term position with a current end date of one yearfrom the date of hire which may be extended based upon availablefunding.
