Princeton University’s Lewis-Sigler Institute seeks a full-time Research Technician I or II to support the Genomics Core Facility by preparing samples and operating high-throughput sequencing instruments. The position is a one-year term with renewal contingent upon funding and performance.

Responsibilities include sequencing, library preparation, QA of DNA/RNA, sample tracking, training users, and collaborating with staff.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in general modern molecular biology techniques.
• At least 1 year of experience in molecular biology, cell biology, or other life science fields.

Overview

The Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics seeks applicants for a full-time research technician (Research Specialist I or II) to provide technical support to the Genomics Core Facility by preparing samples and running the high-throughput Genomics instruments.

This will be a one-year term position, with the possibility of renewal contingent upon continued funding availability and satisfactory job performance. This full-time position offers a competitive salary plus a comprehensive suite of benefits including health, retirement, and life insurance.

• Operation of Next-Generation sequencers and other instruments for genomic research.
• Quality control of DNA and RNA samples.
• Sample receiving, tracking, and management.
• Preparation of sequencing libraries using molecular biology techniques.
• Performing tests on new methods and protocols under the supervisor’s guidance.
• Training users and other staff on shared instruments.
• Other lab tasks as assigned.

Required education:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in biological sciences or related field.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with Illumina and/or PacBio Sequencers, as well as tissue sectioning.
• Experience with teaching or training others in a laboratory setting.
• Experience working in a technology core facility.
