Job summary

Canadian Solar Inc. is seeking a Senior Requirements Engineer in the US (Texas/Arizona) to specialize in EMS controls and PCS for utility-scale battery energy storage systems.

You will develop and maintain technical requirements, review project needs, and ensure compliance with UL/IEC and NERC-CIP standards, while coordinating across R&D, commercial, and engineering teams. You will lead risk assessments, templates for security requirements, and use AI and version-control tools to maintain

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of design/implementation of global compliance standards for industrial products.
• Knowledge of UL & IEC requirements and NERC-CIP cybersecurity standards.
• Experience with regional and global regulatory requirements.
• Deep understanding of battery systems.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Develop Technical Requirements: Create and maintain technical requirements for battery energy storage control systems and PCS in line with company goals and industry standards.
• Cyber security: Develop a set of security requirements and templates.
• Review Project-Specific Requirements: Carefully review and ensure project-specific requirements for control systems and PCS are met.
• Negotiate and Develop Requirements Management: Develop comprehensive requirements management strategies tailored to client needs.
• Track Applicable Standards: Monitor applicable standards and analyze their implications on our products, communicating to R&D, commercial, and engineering teams.
• Certification Testing Solutions: Assist in finding solutions to challenges related to certification testing.
• Examine Test Samples: Read schematics and wiring diagrams to examine test samples.
• Conduct Risk Assessments: Identify potential compliance risks and mitigation strategies.
• Regular Reporting: Report to the business team and stakeholders for transparency.
• Utilize and maintain AI tools for developing technical requirements.
• Utilize and maintain version control tools to ensure traceability and change-management throughout the lifecycle.
