CRU International, through Steel Market Update (SMU), seeks an accomplished journalist to break news, produce market reports, and conduct exclusive interviews with steel industry leaders. You will help shape SMU’s newsletter and contribute to Steel Summit coverage.

You will report on quarterly earnings, price movements, and industry developments while building trusted sources and delivering clear, concise analysis for subscribers.

Qualificações

• Experience in journalism with ability to report accurately to deadline.
• Experience covering steel markets is highly desirable.

Responsabilidades

• Break news and report promptly on industry announcements and steel price movements.
• Produce in-depth market reports and exclusive interviews with CEOs and leaders.
• Help lead production of the SMU newsletter and improve it.
• Develop sources for news and pricing, assess market indicators, and record information accurately.
• Edit articles and columns from SMU contributors.
• Build expertise in finished steel and ferrous scrap markets.
• Speak and moderate at conferences, including Steel Summit.
• Collaborate with CRU’s steel teams across the Americas and overseas.
• Work with sales and marketing to extend SMU’s reach across social media.

About the role: Join Steel Market Update (SMU) to break news, deliver in-depth market reporting, and interview steel industry leaders. You’ll help shape SMU’s newsletter and pricing coverage while playing a visible role at Steel Summit, its flagship annual conference.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

• Experience in journalism, with a proven ability to deliver accurate reporting to deadline.
• Experience covering steel markets is highly desirable.

Skills & Experience:

• Strong news judgment and the ability to turn complex market developments into clear, concise stories.
• Excellent written and spoken English, including the ability to ask effective interview questions and communicate confidently with senior industry leaders.
• Experience developing and maintaining trusted sources and professional relationships.
• Confidence working with pricing data and market intelligence, with the ability to assess information critically and explain its significance to readers.
• Strong editing and fact-checking skills, with close attention to detail.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and respond quickly to breaking news without compromising accuracy.
• Commercial awareness and an understanding of how relevant, high-quality content serves subscribers.
• A collaborative approach to working with editorial, research, sales, and marketing colleagues.
• Willingness to represent SMU at industry events through interviews, speaking, and moderation.
• Familiarity with IOSCO standards is helpful.
