Job summary

CRU is seeking a seasoned journalist to help shape the Aluminum Market Update (AMU), CRU's new aluminum industry publication. You will break news, report market developments, and interview industry leaders to deliver timely insights.

Based in Pittsburgh, you will collaborate with CRU’s aluminum experts across the Americas and abroad, build sources, and contribute to the AMU website and newsletter with clear, concise analysis and engaging content.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• A master’s degree in journalism, an MBA, or another advanced degree is helpful.
• Working knowledge of Spanish or French is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Report breaking news, earnings, and aluminum market developments to deadline.
• Produce in-depth reports and exclusive interviews with CEOs and other industry leaders.
• Gather market intelligence, develop sources, interpret survey findings, and assess price-related data and market indicators.
• Help produce and improve the AMU website and newsletter, including editing contributor articles and columns.
• Build expertise in aluminum and nonferrous scrap markets.
• Represent AMU at conferences, events, and webinars through speaking and moderation.
• Collaborate with CRU teams across the Americas and overseas, and with sales and marketing to reach and grow AMU’s audience.

Job Requirements

• Journalism experience, ideally covering aluminum markets, with the ability to build relationships across the aluminum and scrap industries.

• Strong attention to detail, commercial awareness, and a collaborative approach.
• Confidence in public speaking and creating social media content that promotes AMU and CRU.
• Familiarity with IOSCO standards is helpful.
