Placements24 is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead end-to-end renewable energy infrastructure projects in Welkom, Free State. You will plan, execute, and close projects across solar, wind, and storage with a focus on time, budget, and quality.

This role requires navigating regulatory environments and managing multidisciplinary teams and external contractors. The ideal candidate has 8–10 years in energy project management, strong leadership, and a proven ability to deliver complex projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil) or related field.
• 8–10 years of project management experience in renewable energy.
• Proven track record delivering large-scale energy projects (solar, wind, storage).
• PM methodologies (PMI, Prince2) and software proficiency.
• Strong knowledge of South Africa grid connection requirements and regulations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects under pressure with effective stakeholder engagement.
• Financial modeling and contract management experience.
• Based in or willing to relocate to Welkom, Free State with travel availability.

Responsibilities

• Lead project teams from conception through commissioning and handover.
• Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Manage all phases of the project lifecycle including permitting and procurement.
• Oversee contract negotiations and relationships with suppliers and consultants.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Monitor progress, report KPIs, and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate with legal, finance, and engineering departments.
• Manage project finances, cash flow forecasting and cost control.
• Contribute to business development and strategy for future projects.
