Job summary

Ulteig seeks a Lead Studies Engineer to support dynamic power system studies, focusing on PSSE, PSLF, and PSCAD models for renewables and interconnection analyses. You will develop and test models, run dynamic simulations, and support regulatory compliance in grid projects.

You will interact with clients to address evolving grid and compliance requirements, leveraging Python and experienced PSCAD/PSSE skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited) or equivalent.
• 7–10 years of experience with at least 3 years in power systems.
• Experience with PSSE and PSCAD for steady-state and dynamic analysis.
• Experience with interconnection applications and working with TSOs/TOs preferred.
• Experience with PSCAD, PSLF and TSAT modeling preferred.
• Experience with Python programming preferred.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.

Responsibilities

• Develop PSSE, PSLF, TSAT and PSCAD models of renewable plants.
• Perform model quality tests and benchmarking for software models.
• Tune dynamic model parameters to meet regional requirements.
• Support interconnection applications with design data and forms.
• Conduct preliminary system studies, such as reactive power analysis.
• Collaborate with clients to meet deadlines and feedback.
• Stay updated on ISO/RTO requirements and regional interconnection processes.
• Respond quickly to design changes and maintain flexibility.
• Develop tools to automate model quality tests and analyses.
