Job summary

Ulteig is seeking a Lead Studies Engineer to support dynamic power system studies within Renewables – Electrical. You will develop PSSE, PSLF, TSAT and PSCAD models for renewable plants, perform model tests, and collaborate with clients to meet interconnection and NERC-style requirements.

The role emphasizes close client interaction, model validation, and staying current with evolving grid codes and ISO/RTO requirements, including ride-through studies and automation tools.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent required.
• Minimum 7–10 years in power systems engineering.
• Experience with PSS/E and PSCAD for dynamic and steady-state studies.

Responsibilities

• Develop PSSE, PSLF, TSAT and PSCAD models of renewable plants.
• Perform model quality tests and benchmarking for software models.
• Tune dynamic model parameters to meet regional performance requirements.
• Support interconnection applications with design information and forms.
• Conduct preliminary system studies such as reactive power analysis.
• Collaborate with clients to understand needs and deadlines.
• Stay updated on regional interconnection requirements and ISO/RTO changes.
• Develop tools to automate model quality testing and analyses.
