Job summary

Ulteig is seeking a Design Engineer to develop renewable plant models and perform dynamic system studies within our Renewables – Electrical department. You will work on PSSE, PSLF, and PSCAD models for interconnection applications and NERC-related studies.

The role requires a B.E. in Electrical Engineering, 2+ years in power systems, and experience with PSSE/PSCAD. Python skills are a plus, and prior exposure to transmission operators is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited) or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience; at least 1 year in power systems.
• Experience with steady-state or dynamic analysis using PSS/E and PSCAD.
• Prior experience with transmission operators (ERCOT, PJM, MISO, CAISO) is a plus.
• Programming in Python is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop PSSE, PSLF, TSAT and PSCAD models of renewable plants.
• Conduct model quality tests and benchmarking for software models.
• Tune dynamic models to meet regional requirements and performance.
• Support interconnection applications, prepare drawings and forms with design data.
• Conduct preliminary system studies such as reactive power studies.
• Collaborate with clients to address design changes and deadlines.
• Stay updated on interconnection processes, queue schedules and regulatory changes.
• Assist in automating model quality tests and analyses.
