Job summary

Eurofins Scientific is seeking a Senior Product Safety Engineer, Renewable Energy to evaluate conformance of inverters, battery energy storage systems, EV equipment and other power generation gear to industry standards. This role involves extensive on-site work at customer facilities and occasional cross-training within the team.

The position requires a strong background in electrical engineering, 5+ years of hands-on experience with renewable energy equipment, and travel up to 50% for on-site

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with 5+ years of experience, or a Master's degree with 4+ years of experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with utility-interactive inverters, battery energy storage systems, EV switchgear or power conversion equipment.
• Experience with ANSI, CSA, UL, EN, IEC and IEEE product safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Independently conduct evaluations of equipment to determine compliance with applicable standards.
• Plan, coordinate and execute project work and keep the client informed.
• Read and understand schematics and manufacturing instructions.
• Validate project scope and sample applicability.
• Identify and locate test instruments and equipment required for testing within the scope of the project.
• Set up and operate the equipment under test (EUT).
• Conduct thorough construction review and document results.
• Develop and set up test plans; follow established test plans.
• Perform testing of products in accordance with standards (rating, leakage current, dielectric, temperature, pressure, stability, rain).
• Perform utility interactive testing (abnormal voltage/frequency, islanding, harmonic distortion, interconnection).
• Travel to customer sites up to 50% and support audits.
