Sentara Health Plan is seeking a Senior Underwriter for a remote, full-time position. The role emphasizes deep underwriting expertise, mentoring teammates, and supporting RFPs with cross-functional collaboration.

The candidate will work with Sales, Actuarial, and Leadership to shape pricing strategies using complex data and diverse funding arrangements, including Fully Insured and Self-Funded plans.

Qualifications

• Experience in fully insured and self-funded underwriting.
• Strong claims analysis and actuarial concepts knowledge.
• Ability to develop pricing with limited or complex data.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and serve as subject-matter expert for Underwriters and Trainees.
• Support high-profile cases and RFPs; collaborate with Sales, Actuarial, Leadership.
• Contribute to process improvement, training development, and underwriting strategy.
