Job summary

Protingent is seeking a Principal Engineer - Plant Design Integration for a contract opportunity. The role focuses on developing and integrating plant design requirements, ensuring licensing compliance, and coordinating across disciplines to support licensing strategies for nuclear facilities.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years in nuclear facility design or operations, a relevant engineering BS, and strong communication with management and licensing teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years in nuclear facility design or operation including plant or systems engineering, fire protection, operations, or reactor engineering.
• BS degree in nuclear, structural, chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering or Senior Reactor Operators license or equivalent.
• Demonstrates initiative with ability to work independently under moderate supervision.
• Working understanding of NRC regulations and associated guidance; prior NRC interaction desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop, manage, and integrate plant level requirements and specification documents for plant design activities.
• Interface with design disciplines to allocate plant requirements and verify plans.
• Ensure licensing and code requirements are implemented in design and aligned with strategies.
• Support plant design cost studies and interdisciplinary reviews as a plant-level representative.
• Review safety and risk analyses and their impact on plant requirements.
• Lead design integration reviews and resolve cross-functional issues.
• Integrate plant information into licensing basis and regulatory submittals for the Licensing Modernization Project.
• Keep management informed of emerging technical issues and risks.
• Promote best practices to maintain high engineering design quality and drive efficiency.
