Job summary

CSAA Insurance Group is hiring a Sr. Litigation Specialist to manage litigated claims through conclusion, including trials, with authority to settle and negotiate. You will interact with defense counsel, oversee outside counsel budgets, and ensure cost-effective outcomes.

This remote role requires travel and strong analytical and communication skills. Ideal candidates will have 6–7 years of claims experience (2–4 in senior casualty or equivalent), 1 year of litigation experience, and familiarity

Qualifications

• 6-7 years of claims experience with a minimum of 2-4 years Senior Casualty role experience or equivalent complex casualty/litigation experience
• 1 year of Litigation experience
• Proficiency or ability to obtain proficiency in the handling of minor, moderate and complex litigated claims
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
• Proficient in ability to work independently
• Strong decision-making ability
• Extensive understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements and ability to develop proficiency in standards of civil procedure
• Ability to travel and to work extended hours and/or weekends
• Proficient oral and written communication skills and ability to organize and present complex facts to executive management
• Strong math skills, basic computer skills and ability to type at least 30 wpm
• HS/GED or a minimum of 3 years of experience in casualty claims role within P&C insurance industry

Responsibilities

• Manage litigated claims through conclusion, including trial
• Provide input and direction to defense counsel and responsible for ultimate resolution through settlement authority and negotiations
• Responsible for effective management of defense costs and indemnity
• Creates discovery plans including depositions, retention of experts, IMEs and accident reconstruction
• Approve and monitor budget for outside counsel and use bill review software
• Present recommendations for litigated cases to local and executive management
