Job summary

IBM Software’s WarpStream team is hiring a Senior Engineer to drive end-to-end backend development on a Kafka-compatible streaming platform built on object storage. You will help scale multi-tenant control planes, implement features like transactions and cross-region clusters, and contribute to a developer console UI.

You will work across the stack in a fully remote, geographically distributed team with engineers in the USA, Spain, France, Canada, Ireland, and more.

Qualifications

• 4+ years industry experience designing, building, scaling and supporting backend systems.
• Strong programming and algorithmic skills; proficiency in Java, Go, C/C++, Python.
• Experience with microservices, containers, and virtualization.
• Operational excellence for large production services; customer-centric mindset.

Responsibilities

• Independently drive execution of complex technical projects end to end.
• Build mission-critical backend services with focus on performance, scalability, reliability and resilience.
• Troubleshoot and debug across microservices, containers, and virtualization stacks.
• Ensure services meet availability and performance SLAs for customers.
• Collaborate across teams to deliver robust software products.
