Job summary

IBM Software is hiring a Senior Engineer for WarpStream, a Kafka-compatible data streaming platform built on object storage. You will work across the stack, from network-level bits to a polished developer UI, on a distributed, multi-cloud environment with on-call responsibilities.

You will tackle complex distributed systems problems at scale, build scalable backend services, and contribute to a remote, globally distributed team with engineers in several countries.

Qualifications

• 5+ years industry experience designing, building, scaling and supporting backend systems in production with a strong focus on quality, code reviews, and documentation.
• Strong programming and algorithmic skills in Java, Go, C/C++, Python and related ecosystems.
• Deep curiosity for distributed systems and storage systems.
• Strong delivery focus and communication skills.
• Experience in driving operational excellence for large production services.
• Customer-centric mindset and ability to mentor teammates and contribute to team success.

Responsibilities

• Independently drive execution of complex technical projects end to end.
• Build mission-critical backend services that deliver value to customers, architecting, designing, developing and operationalizing high performance, scalable, reliable and resilient systems.
• Troubleshoot and debug within a deep, multi-layer stack including microservices and containers.
• Ensure operational readiness and meet availability and performance SLAs for customers.
