Job summary

Reddit is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Messaging Infra team to tackle large-scale streaming and distributed messaging challenges. You will partner with ML/AI and Search teams to build scalable solutions while maintaining high availability across Reddit services.

In day-to-day work, you will help shape the long-term technical strategy, refine the messaging infrastructure, and own the infrastructure that supports produce/consume requests along with tooling for efficient operation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building internet-scale software, preferable with machine learning storage infra focus.
• Proficient in one or more general purpose programming languages: Golang, Python, C++, Java.
• Experience with Kafka and Kubernetes; Strimzi is a plus.
• Hands-on experience implementing features, optimizations, and bug fixes in distributed messaging systems.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to developing the team and organization’s long term technical strategy.
• Refine and maintain the messaging infrastructure to support asynchronous communication for hundreds of millions of users.
• Own the infrastructure (managed and self-hosted) that supports produce and consume requests, with tooling to operate it efficiently.
