Reddit is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Messaging Infra team to tackle large-scale streaming and distributed messaging infrastructure challenges. You will work with ML/AI and search teams to build scalable solutions with high availability and reliability for Reddit's vast user base.

The role emphasizes contributing to long-term technical strategy, maintaining messaging systems, and owning production and consumption pipelines with robust tooling and automation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building internet-scale software, preferably with a focus on machine learning storage infrastructure.
• Proficiency in one or more general purpose programming languages; Golang, Python, C++, Java.
• Experience with Kafka, Kubernetes; Strimzi is a huge plus.
• Hands-on experience implementing features, optimizations, and bug fixes to distributed messaging systems.
• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical field.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to developing the team and organization’s long term technical strategy.
• Refine and maintain our messaging infrastructure to support the asynchronous communication of services supporting hundreds of millions of users.
• Own the infrastructure (managed and self-hosted) that supports produce and consume requests along with the necessary tooling and automation to efficiently operate the infrastructure.
