Job summary

Reddit is hiring a remote Senior Software Engineer for Messaging to help scale our asynchronous messaging infrastructure for hundreds of millions of users. You will refine and own the messaging stack, including production and consumption tooling, in a globally distributed environment.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years building internet-scale software, strong knowledge of Golang, Python, Java, and C++, plus experience with Kafka and Kubernetes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building internet-scale software, preferably with a focus on machine learning storage infrastructure.
• Software development experience in one or more general purpose programming languages; Golang, Python, C++, Java.
• Experience with Kafka and Kubernetes; Strimzi is a plus.
• Hands-on experience implementing features, optimizations, and bug fixes to distributed messaging systems.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders in engineering, data science, ML, and product.
• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical field.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to developing the team and organization’s long term technical strategy.
• Refine and maintain our messaging infrastructure to support asynchronous communication for hundreds of millions of users.
• Own the infrastructure (managed and self-hosted) that supports produce and consume requests with tooling to operate it.
